Provide a summary of the project or program:
           Capital Outlay- A lot of repairs and refurbishing of the main office building was done this past year. However, funding would not allow us to redo the parking lot. This parking lot is asphalt with a lot of holes and entrance by sidewalk has buckled. It is ICOA's plan to pave this lot and put a slab for the dumpster. Then we will have the City repair the sidewalk.

We also need to replace the carpet in the office as it is now 13 years old and getting shabby and stained. This could be providing an atmosphere of mold in the office.

General Appropriation- We are hoping and planning to expand our transportation for the elderly. We are a rural area with dismal transportation for elderly. This would include hiring another part-time driver and having 2 vans on the road. Many of our elderly do not have Medicaid and cannot afford the cost associated with riding their vans. Our elderly are isolated and no longer have the family around to take care of their everyday needs.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          Iberia Council on Aging exists to identify the needs of older persons and to provide the delivery of services to said individuals. The Capital Outlay appropriation will provide a safer entrance for our seniors who are often using walkers and the new carpet will provide a cleaner working environment.
The expanded public transportation for the seniors will allow more independence on the part of our seniors. They will be able to assist in their own care by having independent lives.


What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          Our goal is 1. to provide an attractive area for our seniors to come in order to get information about our services and to receive these services. Better transportation and equipment will allow us to provide more transportation for the elderly and to allow them to stay home, freeing up state money due to the high cost of nursing homes.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           3-4 months from contract time to actual completion for Capital Outlay, and the transportation will be for one year with renewals.
