This project is for the restoration and preservation of historic structures located on the Hope Haven Madonna Manor campus located in Marrero, LA. The campus consists of 8 buildings sitting on approx. 10 acres of land. There are over 100 oak trees on the property which are nearly one century old. The property is zoned for public use and has always been used for a public purpose. Several of the structures, including the ones currently identified in this request, house programs overseen by the Archdiocese of New Orleans or related entities and supported by the federal government. These programs include services for the elderly and families which will continue to operate out of these structures during any renovation/preservation. Those programs are described in more detail in other sections of this Request. Other structures are vacant but have potential of attracting tenants once restored. One of the goals of the preservation and renovation is to allow additional programs for the public to operate from those structures. Additionally, the property is located on Barataria Blvd. which is a major thoroughfare for tourists in the greater New Orleans area who visit the Jean Lafitte National Park and the town of Jean Lafitte. Preservation and renovation of these historic structures will support and enhance the continued use of this property and enhance and energize the economic development of the Westbank of Jefferson Parish and the State of Louisiana. What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
This project is for the restoration and preservation of historic structures located on the Hope Haven Madonna Manor campus located in Marrero, LA. The property is zoned for public use and has always been used for a public purpose. Some of the structures are currently in use for public purposes and it is anticipated that they will continue to be used for those purposes in the future. One of the buildings is used for PACE,Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly, which provides numerous in home and in facility services to seniors in the community. Another is program which operates out of one of the buildings is CafĂ© Hope, which provides training and jobs in the food service industry for at risk youth and is open as a restaurant to the public to support their mission. Rickey Jackson's Courage House, a program which provides academic outreach and other services to at-risk males, is also housed in a building on campus. Another program. Food for Families, operated out of one of the buildings for years until last year, and only moved because of the condition of the building. Food for Families serviced over 60,000 people in need throughout the community. One of the goals would be to have either that program or a similar program available to continue to assist the vulnerable in the community. As noted above, several structures currently house programs overseen by the Archdiocese of New Orleans or its associated entities and supported by the local and federal government. These programs are expected to continue to operate out of these structures during any renovation/preservation. Other structures are vacant but have the potential of attracting tenants once restore. The Archdiocese of New Orleans and its associated entities operate numerous programs which provide assistance to the public. It is the hope that the renovated buildings can be used to continue the ministry to provide services to the public.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
The goal of the project is to preserve and restore historic structures to provide for continued public services for the community. Throughout the years, owners have provided the majority of funding for preservation and restoration of these structures: however, additional funds are needed to bring most or all of the buildings back into use. As noted above several non-profits currently operate programs out of buildings on the campus. The ultimate goal is to allow all of the structures to be placed back into commerce to benefit the community.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
