Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Louisiana Resource Center for Educators serves over 150,000 school children in Louisiana ages 4-18 by training and supporting hundreds of teachers in the following ways:
1) LRCE Teach! - Providing 100-140 certified teachers. In 2003 LRCE was approved by the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education as a private provider of alternative certification training. Under the administration of Governor Mike Foster the Board of Regents and the Board of Elementary & Secondary Education formed the Blue Ribbon Commission on Teaching and Learning. This commission brought forth many recommendations, one of which was to allow private providers to apply for and be approved to provide alternative certification training for professionals who have degrees but did not attend the traditional College of Education pathway to certification. It was called the Practitioner Teacher Program and the participants are called "Practitioners". Since being approved in 2003 LRCE has provided more than 1,800 certified teachers for Louisiana classrooms
2) Library of Instructional Materials - LRCE manages a 110,000 title library of instructional materials that are available to teachers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This unique library has microscopes, multiple copy sets of books, calculators and more. The library checks out over 130,000 items annually to public, private and parochial schools across the state. Districts pay a membership fee of $400 per school to use the service and teachers may also join as an individual.
3) Reach for Success - A summer lab school for over 300 Pre-K-12th grade students designed to combat summer learning loss and provide a platform for training teachers or Practitioners in the LRCE Teach! program.
4) Find Your Future - A workforce Development Program for over 800 high school Sophomores that teaches interview skills, how to fill out a job application, how to dress for an interview and how to search for a job. The students attend two workshops and a Career Expo that is held in Clinton, Louisiana where the student spend 90 minutes learning about various careers by interviewing a choice of 50 exhibitors.

The public purpose is to provide between 100-130 certified teachers through the LRCE Teach! program, loan over 130,000 instructional items through the LRCE library, and provide high school students with the tools they need to get a job and/or attend college.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Goals and objectives are articulated in the activities that LRCE implements.
LRCE Teach! - The Teach! program goal is to provide Louisiana children with an effective teacher. Teach! recruits, screens and trains professionals with a variety of educational backgrounds, and turns them in to effective teachers. The program is the oldest and largest alternative certification program in the state. Accountants, lawyers and people doctorate degrees have enrolled and completed the training. LRCE places 90% of the Practitioners who enroll in the program. Of the completers, 88% score in the top two quartiles of the state sanctioned "Compass" evaluation system. The program consists of a 7 week institute where the Practitioner learns teaching strategies and must complete 4 weeks of student teaching. After the institute the Practitioner finds a teaching position and must attend monthly "Saturday Seminars" at LRCE. Saturday Seminars are where the Practitioners debrief and learn more about best practices in teaching. After teaching for one year and having been observed by master teachers, the Practitioner can be recommended for a Level One Teaching certificate.
Goals for LRCE are also to manage a multi-media lending library and a workforce development program for high school teachers entitled "Find Your Future".

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
