Questions About "My Legis"

What is "My Legis"?

"My Legis" is a feature which allows you to track up to 100 legislative instruments and to personalize your experience on our site. With an account, you can identify and monitor the progress of legislation that interests you.

Note: you can only track legislation within the currently active legislative session. A few months prior to a Regular Session or a couple of weeks before an Extraordinary Session, we will make that session "active". Bills from prior sessions will no longer appear in your tracking lists.

How do I create an account?

In the top right corner of our site, click on the Sign-Up link.
You will be asked to enter:

  • a User ID
  • a Password
  • your Name
  • your email Address

How do I change my account information?

When you are logged into our site, a Change Info link will appear in the top right corner of each page. From that link, you may change your account information. However, you will not be able to change your User ID.

What if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, you can enter your User ID or email address on the login page, and then click on the "forgot your password" link. This will cause your password to be reset to a temporary value which will be emailed to you at the address you provided. Upon receiving that email, login to our site with the temporary password and then change it before it expires.

Can this site remember my account information and automatically log me in?

When creating an account or logging into our site, you may also set options controlling automatic login.

Checking "Remember me on this computer" will store your User ID in a cookie so that you do not have to re-type it each time you login to our site. This setting alone will not cause you to be automatically logged in.

Checking "Remember my password" will store your encrypted password in a cookie which will enable you to be fully and automatically logged into our site upon each visit.

We do not recommend checking either of those options on public access computers.

How do I see my tracking list?

To access your tracking list, you must first login to this site. You may then click on the "My Legis" tab on the horizontal menu at the top of most pages.

Note: you can only track legislation within the currently active legislative session. A few months prior to a Regular Session or a couple of weeks before an Extraordinary Session, we will make that session "active". Bills from prior sessions will no longer appear in your tracking lists.

How do I add legislation to my tracking list?

There are a few ways to add bills to your tracking list.

If you know the exact legislative instrument you wish to track, you can add it directly from the "My Legis" page.

From our site's Bill Information pages, which show the history of selected legislative instruments, you may click on the eyeball icon at the top right corner of the page and acknowledge your desire to add the bill to your tracking list.

You may also bulk add your bill search results. After executing a bill search, you can click on the eyeball icon at the top right corner of the search results. This will cause all the bills in that results listing to be added to your tracking list.

Note: you can only track legislation within the currently active legislative session. The Bill Search Results and the Bill Information pages will not include the tracking eyeball link for non-active legislative sessions.
A few months prior to a Regular Session or a couple of weeks before an Extraordinary Session, we will make that session "active". Bills from prior sessions will no longer appear in your tracking lists.

What are the eyeball icons on meeting agendas and search results?

The eyeball icon is an indicator that you are tracking that bill.

Where did my tracking list go?

You can only track legislation within the currently active legislative session. A few months prior to a Regular Session or a couple of weeks before an Extraordinary Session, we will make that session "active". Bills from prior sessions will no longer appear in your tracking lists.
