Art. 531. Proof of ownership of immovable
One claiming the ownership of an immovable against another who has been in
possession of the immovable for one year after having commenced possession in good faith
and with just title or who has been in possession of the immovable for ten years shall prove
that he has acquired ownership from a previous owner or by acquisitive prescription. In all
other cases, he need only prove a better title.
