          The YMCA offers a diverse range of programs and activities that focus on strengthening community. Our programs support community members of all ages through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y works to help everyone reach their full potential.

At the Y, we create opportunities for people to improve their lives and their communities. Through empowering young people, improving individual and community well-being, and inspiring action, we aim to create meaningful change across our community.

One major public purpose includes our life-saving Safety Around Water Program. The Y’s Safety Around Water program is the first step in equipping children with essential water safety skills, featuring eight sessions that teach children and adults what to do if they find themselves in water accidentally. We impact almost 4,000 children annually with this program.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          The YMCA's key goals and objectives for strengthening community are:
1. Providing an environment of safety, support, care, and fun for children and families.
2. Developing the inner-strength and character of young people through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body.
3. Strengthening the leadership and social skills of young people.
4. Increasing the physical fitness and self-awareness of young people.
5. Demonstrating the importance of the six pillars of Character Counts! (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, fairness, citizenship)
6. Complementing and integrating children's educational experiences with a well-rounded curriculum including homework support, fitness, nutrition, science, art, culture, and enrichment clubs.
7. Providing affordable, licensed child care programs to support working families.
8. Offering financial assistance and scholarships to help remove financial barriers to the Y's services.
