Local New Iberia leaders have partnered to join their individual youth outreach efforts to create the first City-wide yearlong Youth Initiative that will aim to reach more of New Iberia’s youth at an earlier age and through a diverse set of mechanisms. Bishop Darren Sophus, Sr. (Reverend at Zion Hill Christian Fellowship Church) and Pastor Zachary Mitchell, Sr. (Reverend at Word of Hope World Outreach Church, Board President for YABTBAB Outreach Ministries) have joined Stanley Small (President of the Buddies Program) to create a year-round youth initiative to support youth engagement, self-identity, and positive mentorship for kids and youth ages 6-17 years old. By joining forces, the group of leaders will combine resources and advertising to host the first City-wide Youth programming that encompasses flag football, a summer camp, back-to-school youth bash and youth mentoring program.
