What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Thrive New Orleans envisions a future with living-wage jobs, effective infrastructure, and flourishing neighborhoods. Thrive seeks to empower individuals and families by providing workforce development opportunities and sustainable infrastructure solutions to support the advancement and self-sufficiency of low- and moderate-income communities of New Orleans. In response to identified barriers, Thrive provides vocational training and supportive services that increase access to opportunity and promote civilian labor force participation, particularly for residents with lower education attainment, which serves to achieve economic, social, and environmental benefits for individuals and communities at large. Thrive’s workforce development programs focus on opportunities in industries like heavy construction and specialty trade contractors, which are projected to experience high employment growth by the 2024 Louisiana Workforce Development Report. As such, through Thrive, individuals are able to receive soft skills training, technical training, certification, and professional development in crucial industries like stormwater management, green infrastructure, solar installation, weatherization, horticulture, lead removal, and construction.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Community Garden to foster a safer and more resilient community space. Through these installation projects, which will create new safety measures, back-up electric power, and improved infrastructure, Thrive will also provide hands-on training for education and employment opportunities related to infrastructure, construction, and horticulture. Workforce training participants will utilize their technical training to install solar panels, which will generate energy used to power safety lighting, an irrigation system, and a community charging station. Thrive will also implement effective pest control measures to reduce damage caused by common pests and animals through the installation of: UV-resistant insect netting, plexiglass netting hoops, Bird B Gone reflective bird deterrent devices, and ultrasonic ground animal repellant. These improvements will support the development of a safe, sustainable community garden and gathering space in a neighborhood impacted by crime and food insecurity.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
The project is expected to be completed within a timeframe of 6 months. This duration has been carefully planned to ensure that all objectives are met effectively. Key considerations include: Thorough Planning: A detailed project plan will be developed to outline tasks, responsibilities, and timelines. Milestones: The project will be structured around specific milestones to track progress and ensure timely delivery. Resource Management: Adequate resources, including personnel and budget, will be allocated to support the project's success. Quality Assurance: Ongoing testing and evaluation will be conducted throughout the project to maintain high standards. This comprehensive approach aims to facilitate a smooth and efficient completion of the project within the designated timeframe.
