What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          The Junior League of New Orleans, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Thrift Shop serves as a core volunteer training, fundraising, and community outreach site. The Thrift Shop building is located in the historic Freret corridor, an economically and ethnically diverse area designated as a “National Main Street” and undergoing tremendous revitalization. State monies will be used to renovate the Thrift Shop, including Parking Lot, Planning and Construction.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          The Thrift Shop serves as a core volunteer training, fundraising, and community outreach site. State monies will be used to renovate the Thrift Shop, including Parking Lot, Planning and Construction. Primary goals and objectives include providing a safe parking lot for use by volunteers and neighborhood customers of the Bloomin’ Deals Thrift Shop; creating an appropriate site for the many community outreach activities facilitated in the thrift shop and the parking lot, including annual Halloween activities, Night out Against Crime events, holiday and reading events, home ownership-focused Freret Fest, and other activities; and renovations that would allow the building to better reflect the revitalization of the area. A major street repair and streetscaping project is underway on Freret Street and the renovation of the Thrift Shop, Including Parking Lot, Planning and Construction will allow the Thrift Shop to more fully participate in the revitalization of the Freret corridor and better serve the community.
