This program was founded by Kenneth Tramble and put in placed by Sheriff Jay Russell. He also staff it with four experienced Deputies. One of the programs major concern was the number of juvenile males that were having a negative interaction with law enforcement. The program service males ages 9-13, which is a very impressionable time in a young man's life. DMAC is a comprehensive 12 month program that includes a four day a week summer program. The summer program includes a daily two hour block of reading, writing and math. The young men are also taught life skills which include resume writing, problem solving, educational field trips, money managing, and numerous guest speakers from all professions. Also DMAC has implement a healthy lifestyle regiment which includes one hour of physical fitness daily during the summer. Once school start the program shifts into the after school tutoring sessions. Each student is picked up up from the respective school and transported by bus to one central location for tutoring. At the conclusion of this 2.5 hour session, each student is transported to their residence by bus which is driven by DMAC staff. One of the programs goal is to provide the student with the structure needed to become a positive influence in their community. DMAC believes that if you place most at-risk children in a positive environment, it will create a positive mindset. This relationship will work towards improving behavior, in the classroom and their relationship with law enforcement. With strong focus on education we hope to change their way of thinking as well as reduce the incarceration rate of our youth in our community.
