Provide a summary of the project or program:
The mission of the The The mission of the The Louisiana Assoc for Challenged Adults (The Activity Center) is to help provide vocational, recreational and educational/rehabilitation opportunities for mentally challenged adults. Our vocational program participants work a variety of jobs both on site at The Activity Center as well as at various job locations. While undertaking vocational tasks, our members are accompanied by both supervisors and peer workers. The Activity Center has a wood shop on site, which specializes in the production and sale of survey markers.
Off-site vocational activities include such jobs as grounds maintenance and facility custodial services. All of our vocational members are compensated for their work production. An honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay! Our education/rehabilitation members spend their days at The Activity Center with one another and with our staff, engaging in educational life skills and recreational activities. Quite often, all of our members will go on field trips together, spending time exercising at the fitness center, enjoying music at local churches, and engaging in many other fun and exciting outings. Holiday and birthday celebrations are always a fun time at The Activity Center!

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The Louisiana Association for Challenged Adults is growing and we have big plans for the future. Among these updates are adding a PCA program to our list of services offered to our clients. The Personal Care Attendant services will be a whole new branch to our activity center and will help us now serve the special needs adults in our parish and the surrounding parishes not only at the center but now at home as well. With the addition of this new program offered at our center, we will need a new building to house the new employees and clients that come along with adding this service as our current building doesn’t have the space needed for this new service to sufficiently function. As well as a need to house our new PCA services, the new building would serve as a place to house our Supported Employment Services. According to the new 2015 CMS rules, Vocational and Day Habilitation Clients and services cannot be housed in the same building. With the approval of the Capital Outlay funds, we would be able to build a new building that would serve as a home for our PCA and Vocational Services and allowing us to remain up to code with the new rules regarding Day Habilitation and Vocational Clients residing in separate buildings. Thank you for your consideration.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
The goal would be to have a building to house our PCA and Vocational clients in. We also would like to be able to offer choices in our original building.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           12 months
