Provide a summary of the project or program:
           The 1925 Strand Theatre, a National Historic Landmark, was rescued from probable destruction, restored and re-opened in 1984 as a non-profit presenting organization. Listed on the National Historic Register, the Strand is often photographed, filmed for tourism promotions and toured. Since the re-opening, the Strand has played a crucial role in helping to maintain cultural and economic vitality in the North Louisiana parishes that she serves. Restoration and repairs would enable the Strand Theatre to continue providing a quality venue for local and touring artists, and for the local community, culturally and economically. First requested in 2007, the needs of The Strand have now become critical. The repairs and renovations to the Strand Theatre that are needed: 1. Complete the third floor restrooms - plumbing was roughed in during the 1978-1984 renovations, but never completed 2. Building exterior waterproofing to protect exterior envelope integrity. 3. Upgrade/replace new elevator for handicap access to restrooms and upper floors. 4. New HVAC for office building portion. 5. Repair orchestra pit hydraulic system 6. Overhead plaster repair - requires extensive scaffolding. 7.Replace stage flooring - top covering - due to age and water damage. 8. Replacement of the weathered doors and upgrade of closers and hardware on interior doors. 9. Upgrade of Fire Evac System and Controls. 10. Asbestos abatement - backstage stairwell, office stairwell and HVAC house on roof. 11. Electrical needs - upgrade of outside safety lighting. 12. Repair stage fly system. 13. Office building carpet replacement. 14. Enlargement of box office area. Previous years' requests included replacing the HVAC chiller, tinting large plate glass windows, replacing all fluorescent lighting with LED, replacing loading dock door, replacing hearing impaired system, adding handrails in the balconies, replacement of the Stage Fly System ropes, rewiring and lighting of marquee - this work has been completed out of necessity. Also out of necessity, new repairs are required and have been included. The request for 23-24 reflects the work done and that money included in the match, therefore, the request total has changed, while the amount expected from the state remains the same.

          Restoration and repairs will enable The Strand Theatre to continue to provide a historic quality venue, The State Theatre of Louisiana, for local and touring artists and for the local community. The Strand Theatre hires a local staff, stage crew and many other Louisiana artists and workers. The Strand offers an annual $3.5 million economic impact on the area, while the cultural impact is immeasurable.
