Provide a summary of the project or program:
           Tab-N-Action, Inc. through its subsidiary, "The Black-Tie Guys Youth Mentoring Program" proposes to involve up to 200 youth in Senate District 34 in a year-round mentoring program designed to reduce crime and motivate participants to adopt character traits, practices and goals that will lead them away from delinquency.

The objective is to reduce juvenile delinquency.

Through hands-on activity, instruction, tours, one-on-one mentoring, and learning events, the program’s goal is to help youth identify their natural gifts and talents, and develop a plan to use their gifts. In addition, parents of participants will be assisted in improving parenting skills to help avoid delinquency.

The program will help high school participants chart a path toward higher education with ACT preparation and guidance toward Tops-oriented career paths, if they so desire. It will also promote career preparation for those who choose this path.

The program will operate in sites within Senate District 34 with a maximum of 33 youth and three adults, at each site. One mentor co-coordinator will supervise the mentors, and coordinate mentor activities.

The program will involve a maximum of 200 youth for 12-months.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
          Metropolitan Monroe has the 4th largest crime rate in America for its size. Much of the reported crime involves delinquent behavior of youth, including murders, gun violence, thefts, and assaults.

This program will help reduce juvenile delinquency and promote safer communities.


What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
          The goal of the program is to reduce juvenile crime and improve parenting skills.

The objective is to partner with the Juvenile courts to provide year-round mentoring for youth identified through court diversion programs for participation. In addition, youth participants of single-member families will also be mentored.

In addition to mentoring youth, the PARENTS of participants will also participate in on-going workshops to improve parenting skills involving: household management, the importance of supervision, family goal setting, anger management, academic supervision of children, etc.

The objective is for both parents and participants to be mentored in ways that will reduce delinquent activity through improved parenting and mentored youth activity.

A regular weekly schedule of activities will help participants improve school performance, set life goals, acquire job skills, and become community partners through volunteerism.
