Provide a summary of the project or program:
My name is Sharon Pleasant, and I would like to introduce you to the Louisiana Love Home for Children, a newly established nonprofit organization in the Monroe, Louisiana, area created to provide therapeutic group counseling primarily to children who are survivors of human sex trafficking. The organization is founded and directed by yours truly. The home will be located in Northern Louisiana and is currently being renovated with plans to begin operation at the onset of the second quarter of 2021.
Through the programs to be offered at the Louisiana Love Home for Children, participants will live in a homey environment that exudes safety, structure, and love, and they will be surrounded by a nonjudgmental staff who understands the trauma that they have experienced from a professional standpoint and whose mission is to help them to overcome its negative effects on their lives. Transitioning to adulthood is often a difficult task for teens in general; and for those who are attempting to maneuver life with the stain of abuse and trauma, it is next to impossible. Providing these children with the mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, and intellectual support that they need to restructure their mindset at this stage of their lives is essential for them to become well-rounded and productive adults. That is the ultimate goal of the Louisiana Love Home for Children.
We are enlisting the help of the business community with this effort. Starting any new business is expensive and being a nonprofit business does not mean that start-up is any less costly. However, it does mean that we can solicit the help of caring citizens and businesses in our community to assist with the costs incurred. That is why we are contacting you. We would truly appreciate a monetary donation to assist our organization with getting the things that are needed and required for the opening of the Louisiana Love Home for Children. Because we are nonprofit, your donation is 100% tax deductible, and you know without a doubt that your donation to this cause will be used to help children who are truly in need of the services we will provide to them.
The Louisiana Love Home for Children will also recognize all donors on our website and in any written materials about the organization. Your generosity will not go unnoticed.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,

Sharon Pleasant, Founder/Director
Louisiana Love Home for Children

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Louisiana Love Home for Children is a faith-based nonprofit organization and residential program for young sex trafficking survivors. Through our program, these survivors are provided with a homelike environment, virtual school, and the opportunity to participate actively in structured community life. We are located in North Louisiana.
Sex trafficking survivors face many challenges on their road to recovery, especially as teenagers. With our program, survivors learn empathy, accountability, responsibility, and respect for themselves and the community. We provide them with much-needed love, support, and nonjudgmental acceptance.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Each resident under our care receives a person-centered approach for their treatment module, focusing on autonomy and independence in identifying the goals they want to achieve. We help them with their physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development as they pursue their individual goals. Louisiana Love Home for Children offers treatment and assistance to victims between the ages of 11 and 17. We expect to open our doors and welcome these survivors by May 2022. We will initially offer housing for up to six females with the aim to add more homes in the future. At this time, we cannot house survivors that will need extensive mental health intervention, medical care, or who need to be incarcerated.

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           3 months
