Provide a summary of the project or program:
This organization requests assistance remodeling a historic building along the courthouse square for use as an Economic Development Resource Center. The location is near other governmental and professional offices. This building is in the oldest remaining section of the original Town of Bastrop, developed in the mid-1800s. The area continues to be on a primary traffic corridor, which provides high visibility. However, the lack of available parking limit use as high-density retail and shopping venues leaving some building vacant. This building has parking space at the rear entrance, which conveniently connects the Bastrop Visitor and Convention Center parking area.
Historically, the building was used for retail sales, but renovation is needed to accommodate offices to provide services to the public. The renovation will include rearranging the floor plan and upgrading the electrical and HVAC systems. The organization needs space for community business support, short-term workspace, and training. The organization plans to move from our current office to expand services and maximize the benefits of existing administration costs.
