Provide a summary of the project or program:
Our project is dedicated to revitalizing North Shreveport through a multifaceted approach focused on three key pillars: trash cleanup, restoration of non-navigable bayous and ponds, and promoting neighborhood stabilization strategies.
Through community-led cleanup efforts and partnerships with local organizations, we aim to mobilize volunteers to remove litter from streets, parks, and vacant lots. By fostering a culture of environmental stewardship, we aim to instill pride and ownership among residents, leading to sustained cleanliness.
Neglect, pollution and debris have degraded the bayous and water assets of North Shreveport in areas such as Cherokee/Highland Park, diminishing their aesthetic appeal and ecological health. Our project seeks to reverse this trend by implementing restoration measures such as debris removal, erosion control, and reintroduction of native vegetation. This will require professional expertise and equipment.
We will collaborate with residents, community leaders, and stakeholders to develop and implement neighborhood stabilization strategies. These strategies may include rehabilitating vacant properties and supporting local businesses. In our program of revitalization, we will be addressing systemic issues such as blight, disinvestment, and social fragmentation.
