           The State Fair of Louisiana is a private not-for-profit organization run by a board of directors and staff. The State Fair has been in existence since 1906 and is the “Official” State Fair for the State of Louisiana. The State Fair of Louisiana’s mission is to promote agriculture and industrial resources of our state in a safe and secure environment, while providing a better quality of life for its citizens along with educating and entertaining for all who attend. The State Fair of Louisiana holds the annual State Fair every fall but is also a year-round operation holding events throughout the year. The State Fair of Louisiana is a great source for promoting tourism for our state.
The State Fair of Louisiana has two primary priorities: Families and Safety. We are requesting assistance from the State of Louisiana to support our expanded security initiatives, which include the following:
1.Enhanced Lighting, Camera Surveillance, and Crowd Control Barriers – Our public parking areas currently lack adequate lighting, posing serious concerns after sunset. We propose installing improved lighting throughout our parking lots to enhance visibility and security for our guests and their property. Additionally, we plan to increase camera surveillance in parking areas and throughout the fairgrounds for enhanced monitoring and safety. We also aim to add crowd control barriers at entranceways to improve guest flow and security.
2. On-Site Security Personnel – To maintain a safe environment, we hire Shreveport Police Officers, Caddo Sheriff’s Deputies, City Marshals, private licensed security companies, and other security personnel during the State Fair of Louisiana. This represents our largest annual expense but is essential for ensuring guest safety. The funding would help offset the cost to sustain the necessary security measures.
