Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Bright School is an Early Intervention Program for children birth to five who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Language Delayed. We enroll children with all degrees of hearing loss and those children who have speech and language delays because of a medical diagnosis or syndrome. We are located in Metairie Louisiana and serve all surrounding parishes: Orleans, St. Charles, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Jefferson. Our program follows a typical preschool curriculum with an emphasis on speech and language development. Our staff is qualified to deliver the necessary services to the children enrolled. We have numerous collaborations with other agencies in the area some of which are Loyola University, Delgado Community College, Jefferson Parish School System, and New Orleans Speech and Hearing just to name a few. Our children are involved in Art, Music, Early Literacy activities, Individual therapy sessions, language enrichment, and outside play. We hold monthly parent meetings and monthly parent advocacy meetings in order to support our families. Our families attend monthly sign language classes in order to support their children with their communication. We also work closely with the Audiologist at Ochsner and Children's Hospital so that we are confident that all Cochlear Implants, BAHA, and Hearing Aids are working efficiently to best benefit the child.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The Bright School serves the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and language delayed children who otherwise would not have consistent age appropriate services by qualified personnel. Our staff has Early Intervention certification, Masters in Deaf Education, Occupational Therapy certification, Physical Therapy certification, and Speech Therapy certification. We will use the state monies to continue to provide the necessary and vital services to all enrolled in our program so that they are able to transition into typical classrooms with their peers when exiting The Bright School.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Our goal as a program is for our children to transition into typical classrooms completely mainstreamed with their peers. Therefore, minimizing the need for additional special education services upon exiting. Children that attend an age appropriate early learning center impact their school readiness and school success.
What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
25/26 School Year
