What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
Winnsboro Main Street is devoted to the preservation and revitalization of Winnsboro’s Historic District and of the community in a law-abiding fashion for the benefit of those who are domiciled within the bounds of the Winnsboro Main Street, Inc.
Improving downtown buildings is an investment in the economic future of the entire community. Attractive, well-maintained commercial properties create positive first impressions, encourage shopping and tourism, attract potential entrepreneurs, and demonstrate confidence in the community's future.
By helping merchants overcome financial barriers to building improvements, this program will stimulate reinvestment, encourage neighboring businesses to improve their properties, increase downtown activity, and create momentum for continued revitalization. The resulting improvements will benefit individual businesses while enhancing the entire commercial district.
What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Proposed Program Goals
1. Revitalize Downtown Properties: Improve the appearance, condition, and functionality of existing commercial buildings through exterior renovations and building improvements.
2. Encourage Private Investment: Leverage grant funding to motivate property owners and merchants to invest their own resources in improving and maintaining downtown properties.
3. Strengthen Local Businesses: Help existing businesses remain competitive, improve their storefronts, attract customers, and create a more welcoming shopping and business environment.
4. Preserve Community Character: Encourage the restoration and preservation of historic buildings and architectural features that contribute to the unique identity of the downtown district.
5. Attract New Businesses and Investment: Create an appealing commercial environment that encourages entrepreneurs, prospective business owners, and investors to consider downtown locations.
6. Increase Downtown Activity: Enhance the pedestrian experience and create an attractive destination for shopping, dining, tourism, and community activities.
7. Promote Community Pride: Encourage a shared commitment among merchants, property owners, residents, and community organizations to maintain and improve the appearance of downtown.
8. Create Sustainable Revitalization: Establish a continuing partnership between Main Street and local merchants that encourages ongoing improvements beyond the initial grant investment.
