Provide a summary of the project or program:
The Louisiana Truth and Safety Project is a proposed 12-month narrative, community education, and leadership initiative led by the Louisiana Liberation and Sovereignty Collective (LLSC). The project will advance a community-informed understanding of safety by elevating residents lived experiences, reducing stigma surrounding poverty and homelessness, and increasing awareness of resources that support individual, family, and neighborhood wellbeing.

The initiative will combine direct community outreach, storytelling, educational activities, leadership development, and public awareness advertising campaigns. By meeting people where they include festivals, sporting events, neighborhood gatherings, and other community spaces LLSC will create accessible opportunities for residents to share their perspectives, receive information, and participate in conversations about the conditions that help communities thrive.

Community outreach teams will host information tables, facilitate conversations, distribute educational materials, and connect residents with relevant resources and partner organizations. Listening sessions and consent-based story collection will help identify shared concerns, challenge harmful stereotypes, and ensure that project messaging reflects the experiences of people directly affected by poverty, homelessness, and related barriers to stability.
Educational workshops and leadership training will prepare participating residents to communicate their experiences, facilitate constructive dialogue, share accurate information, and serve as trusted community messengers. LLSC will lead these activities, with qualified partners contributing expertise, resource information, referrals, and specialized services as appropriate.

A coordinated multimedia campaign will extend the project’s reach through digital advertising, social media, community media, photography, video, and accessible educational content. Campaign materials will share resident stories, address misconceptions, highlight community strengths, and promote available resources and opportunities to participate.
The project’s public benefit will be greater understanding of community safety, stronger resident leadership, increased access to reliable information, and more informed, compassionate conversations about poverty and homelessness. Progress will be measured through outreach events conducted, residents engaged, educational activities completed, community messengers trained, materials distributed, campaign reach and engagement, and participant feedback on knowledge, attitudes, and resource awareness. Findings will guide improvements throughout the pilot and inform future community education efforts.

What is the entity's public purpose, sought to be achieved through the use of state monies?
The Louisiana Liberation and Sovereignty Collective’s public purpose is to strengthen community wellbeing, resident leadership, and access to reliable information through education, storytelling, and community engagement. Through the Louisiana Truth and Safety Project, state monies will support a 12 month initiative that increases understanding of community safety, reduces stigma surrounding poverty and homelessness, and connects Louisiana residents with information about available resources and supportive services.

The intended public benefit is a more informed and connected community in which residents better understand the conditions that contribute to safety and stability, know where to seek assistance, and have meaningful opportunities to participate in community dialogue. Success will be assessed through resident participation, educational outcomes, campaign engagement, and changes in participants’ knowledge, attitudes, and awareness of resources.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Over the proposed 12-month period, the Louisiana Truth and Safety Project will increase understanding of community safety, reduce stigma surrounding poverty and homelessness, strengthen resident leadership, and improve awareness of supportive resources. Proposed targets include conducting 6 community outreach events, documenting 200 substantive resident interactions, distributing educational and resource materials with a dedicated workshop and panel that will be open to the public. The project will also produce 6 consent-based resident stories and 10 multimedia educational assets, generate social media impressions throughout the area.
Qualitative objectives include fostering more informed and compassionate conversations, strengthening residents’ confidence in sharing their experiences, and ensuring that community stories are represented accurately and with dignity. Participant reflections, facilitated discussions, and feedback will assess changes in understanding, reconsideration of stereotypes, and perceived barriers to accessing support. Community messengers will demonstrate growth in communication and facilitation skills, while participating storytellers will review how their experiences are portrayed

What is the proposed length of time estimated by the entity to accomplish the purpose?
           12 months
