Through supervised residential services, mentoring, educational assistance, life-skills development, counseling referrals, financial literacy, workforce readiness, and transitional support, S.O.F.T. will help participants develop independence, personal responsibility, emotional stability, and positive decision-making skills.

The initiative will partner with schools, community organizations, social service agencies, and other resource providers to connect youth with essential assistance and supportive relationships.           Shaping Our Future Teenagers (S.O.F.T.) is dedicated to providing safe, stable, and structured residential care exclusively for youth placed through the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Our program is designed to support vulnerable youth experiencing foster care placement needs, family instability, trauma, and other circumstances requiring a supervised and supportive living environment. Through residential care, mentoring, educational assistance, life-skills development, financial literacy, workforce readiness, and access to appropriate support services, we seek to promote stability, personal growth, and successful transitions into adulthood. State funding will assist in establishing and maintaining a supportive residential environment that meets the needs of DCFS-placed youth while promoting their safety, well-being, education, and long-term independence.

What are the goals and objectives for achieving such purpose?
Our goals are to establish and operate a safe, structured residential facility serving youth placed exclusively through DCFS while providing the supervision, guidance, and resources necessary for their development and well-being. We seek to provide consistent residential care, educational support, mentoring, counseling referrals, life-skills training, financial literacy, conflict resolution, healthy relationship education, and preparation for independent living. Working in coordination with DCFS and other authorized service providers, we aim to support individualized service plans, strengthen positive behavior, improve educational engagement, and equip youth with practical skills for successful adulthood. Our long-term objective is to develop a sustainable residential care program that provides stability, accountability, positive adult guidance, and opportunities for youth to achieve their personal, educational, and developmental goals.
