§1810. Amount of reparations award
A. Awards payable under this Chapter shall not exceed fifteen thousand dollars in
the aggregate for all claims arising out of the same crime except for those victims who are
permanently, totally, or permanently and totally disabled as a result of the crime, the
aggregate award shall not exceed twenty-five thousand dollars.
B. In no case shall the total aggregate of awards given during any fiscal year to
claimants residing in the same parish exceed the total amount of costs levied, collected, and
remitted by that parish to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and
Administration of Criminal Justice as required by R.S. 46:1816(D) for the preceding two
fiscal years prior to the date of the crime to which this Chapter applies, or ten thousand
dollars, whichever is greater. This Subsection shall not apply if the board determines that
a qualified claimant would suffer severe and undue hardship if economic relief is not
provided.
