§1817. Notification to potential applicants
A.(1) Every hospital licensed under the laws of this state shall display prominently
in its emergency room posters giving notification of the existence of the crime victims
reparations program. The board shall set standards for the location of the display and shall
provide posters and general information regarding this Chapter to each hospital.
(2) Every hospital and healthcare provider licensed under the laws of this state shall
make available to hospitals and healthcare providers a pamphlet containing an explanation
of the billing process for services rendered pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 40:1300.41.
B. Application forms provided by the board shall be made available to individuals
upon request at the parish sheriff's office.
C. The failure of any hospital, law enforcement agency, or agent or employee thereof
to comply with the requirements of this Section shall not give rise to a cause of action by any
person against such hospital, law enforcement agency or agent or employee thereof; nor shall
such failure in any way affect the time limitations provided for in this Chapter.
