§2554. Mandatory reporting when force is used

No later than January 1, 2026, the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training shall adopt a policy regarding mandatory reporting when a peace officer uses physical force that results in serious bodily injury as defined in R.S. 14:2(C), on a member of the public, whether or not the interaction results in an arrest. The policy shall include but not be limited to when the use of force report shall be required and who shall be required to complete the report. This policy shall apply to all law enforcement agencies in the state. Nothing in this policy shall prevent an agency from adopting a more strenuous policy.

            Acts 2025, No. 426, §1.
