A. In addition to any other fees or costs imposed or authorized to be imposed and
collected, in all civil cases in which the Baton Rouge City Court has jurisdiction, the clerk
may impose a fee not to exceed ten dollars per filing. The fee shall be paid to the clerk of
court at the time of filing. The collection of the additional fee shall be subject to the
provisions of Code of Civil Procedure Article 5181.
B. In all criminal cases, including traffic offenses, the judge may assess a fee not to
exceed ten dollars against every defendant who is convicted after trial or who pleads guilty

or forfeitures provided for by law.
C. The clerk of court shall place all sums collected pursuant to the provisions of this

disbursements made from the account.
D. The Baton Rouge City Court shall obtain approval of the local governing
authority within the territorial jurisdiction of the court, through the adoption of a resolution
or ordinance prior to the creation of the account and the collection of fees authorized by this
